When is Craft not Actually Craft?

Did anyone one really think Shock Top was actually craft beer?  Hopefully not.  However, it’s harder to tell with other breweries who position themselves as craft and brew craft styles, but are owned by one of the big boys.  Check out this piece from Time Magazine that calls out some of these breweries.  This doesn’t mean these breweries aren’t making solid beer, because they do.  However, technically speaking, they are not craft.
