California is known for many things: the Golden Gate Bridge, Hollywood, endless sunshine, and Napa Valley just to name a few. Now there’s one more reason for residents of the Golden State to hold their heads high: California is the number one state for beer.
Thestreet.com put together a list of the top ten beer states based on production, consumption, breweries, and breweries per capita. While California is about as average as it gets in terms of consumption, its large number of breweries and massive production more than make up for its light-weights. True, these numbers are skewed by the presence of a couple of the big boys (MillerCoors and AB-InBev), but it is hard deny that some of the country’s best craft breweries call California home?
