Cinco de Mayo is a celebration to commemorate the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. While beating the French at anything isn’t usually cause for celebration, this holiday has evolved to represent a significant event on the calendar. Sombreros, ponchos, maracas, and of course Mexican beer rule the day.
Corona has positioned itself as the top dog when it comes to Mexican beer, and Cinco de Mayo is a big day for the brewery. A staple at any respectable Cinco de Mayo party, Corona isn’t exactly the best or most expensive beer, but over the weekend someone decided that paying for their beer was optional and stole two tractor trailers filled with the stuff.
