Soccer in the United States has flopped harder than just about all players flop on the field. Still, there are pockets of soccer fans dispersed throughout the country who can easily be identified by their usage of the word “nil.” These hardcore fans continue to try and spread the soccer gospel and have turned to beer to help them convert the non-believers.
The Free Beer Movement seeks to build the fan base of soccer by encouraging fans to invite non-fans to a game in exchange for a free beer. While bribery is not new to the world of soccer, this has to be a new low. Here at Hapa’s Brewing we’ve thought of a better way to entice people to go to soccer games: trick them into thinking they’re going to a football game.
