ADA Bar Remixed

We finished the bar weeks ago but discovered a problem:  The ADA section of the bar is required to have an 18″ overhang.  We built the section with the same 7″ overhang as the rest of the bar.

After discussing several options to remedy this issue we decided to tear the section apart, cut out the area needed for an 18″ overhang, and put it all back together.

Beer Has Been Brewed

Last week was a huge week for Hapa’s Brewing!  One that we will remember forever as the week we brewed our first beer.  There were a lot of moving parts and work to be done but everything came together and we brewed a blonde ale on Wednesday and an IPA on Thursday.  Fermentation has been strong which means we’ll have beer soon!

Stay tuned for more updates!  The Grand Opening is right around the corner!

We Have a Brewery!

Remember in the last post when I said we had “a HUGE week” coming up?  That was no joke!  Our brewing equipment arrived!  We hired a rigging company to unload everything and rough place it on the tank pad.  The team from Criveller Group spent the next two days placing, leveling, and hooking everything up.  We ran a water test and all went well.

Next steps: finish up electrical, water and steam piping, and our glycol system.  Then brew some beer!!!

Cheers,

Concrete Bar Top Gets Poured

After all the measuring, cutting, and drilling the Hapa’s Brewing Company bar was ready for its crown jewel: the concrete bar top.  The team got to work early Saturday morning and by nightfall the bar was one giant step closer to completion.

Stay tuned for more updates.  This is going to be a HUGE week for Hapa’s Brewing Company.

Not Always Smooth Sailing

Opening a brewery is a lot like life: sometimes you hit a rough patch.  In our case we literally had several rough patches in our taproom floor.  Last week, we demoed these out and poured brand new concrete.  Now onto building a bar…

Walk-in Cooler Gets Built

Everyone knows that beer is best served cold and to keep beer cold you need a refrigerator.  In our case we got a HUGE 600 square foot refrigerator!  This monster piece of equipment was delivered a couple weeks ago and we finally got around to putting it together.  Now all we need is some beer to put in it!

Cargo Ships, Landscaping, and Basketball Hoops

It was a relatively quiet week at Hapa’s Brewing Company.  There are several large projects that need to be completed now that our new concrete pads are in.  These include putting up the walk-in cooler, building a fence around the mechanical pad, and patching the taproom concrete floors.

In the meantime, there has been some fun brewery news.  First, the cargo ship with our steel on it successfully navigated the Panama Canal!

Secondly, our building is looking really good as landscaping work continues!

Lovely!

Lastly, we put up a basketball hoop!

Concrete Pouring for Tank and Walk-in Pads

Great week at the brewery construction site!  We now have brand new pads to place our brewing tanks and cold storage box!  It took a crew of eight, seven cement trucks, and 70 yards of concrete to complete the job but the results speak for themselves.

Furniture Gets Made; Construction Continues

Whole lotta action at the brewery this week.  Here’s the quick summary:

  • We built two farmhouse tables, six benches, a bar height table, and started framing the bar and finishing the newly constructed furniture (Video below.  Huge shout out to my wife for all her help!!!)
  • The steel that will soon be made into our brewery tanks is on it’s way from Italy!  It’s currently on a cargo ship called the Seaspan Dalian in port in France
  • Preparations for the new brewery and walk-in pads continued with base rock going down and rebar and dowel installation
  • We have lights!  And light switches! And power outlets!  And they all work!

Things are moving right along with plenty more milestones to come!

Cheers,

The Hapa’s Brewing Team

We Built a Wall

No, it’s not the Great Wall of China.  No, it’s not visible form space (neither is the Great Wall of China BTW).  But we’re still proud of the wall that went up in the taproom today.  This wall will give us some extra storage space and also more cleanly defines the southend of the taproom.

What else is going on you ask?  Well, after not passing our underground plumbing inspection, things have been worked out and we’re clear to start putting the concrete pads back together.  Plumbing and electrical work continues.

Cheers,
