Music at Hapa’s This Friday (2/17)

Join us this Friday from 6-8pm as we welcome Mick from The Big Dawg Patriots to perform in the taproom. He performs a tribute to the singer-songwriter genre, playing select songs from today all the way back to the 60’s. He blends in his own popular songs with contemporary like Ed Sheeran, Keith Urban, and Chris Stapleton, but also artists like Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, Jim Croce, and James Taylor

Be sure to check our blog and/or social media pages for updates on the Grand Opening Party happening Saturday, Feb. 25th from 1-5pm.  We’ll have music, food, local dignitaries, and of course great beer!  Mark your calendar!

Beer and Yoga!

Progress has been steady at Hapa’s Brewing Company and we are nearing the long awaiting opening (exact date is TBD).  In preparation for the Big Day, we thought it would be a good idea to center ourselves with some yoga.  We’ve teamed up with Downward Drinking Dog to host a beer and yoga event at the brewery on January 21st.  Tickets and information can be found HERE.

P.S. It can get a little bit chilly in the brewery so please dress accordingly.

Self-Serve Beer is Real

The Minnesota Twins will either be hailed as heroes or cursed as villains for implementing self-serve beer stations.  Thirsty baseball fans will be able to redeem pre-paid cards for as much or as little beer as they desire.  Stadium staff will be on hand to cut-off over (self) served fans and prevent underage patrons from buying beer.  Next up: self serve hotdog stations!

This Makes Me Sad

Remember the 90s? Remember Hanson? Remember their “hit” songMMMBOP? Well now you can relive the brothers Hanson in all their glory by drinking their beer: Mmmhops, an American Pale Ale brewed by these 90s icons. If you’re interested, my recommendation would be to try this beer now. Based on the Hansons’ musical careers this will be their only beer and it won’t be around long.

Drinking Without Drunking

Jim Koch is kind of a big deal in the beer world.  As the founder of Boston Beer Co. and creator of Sam Adams Boston Lager, he is the face of one of the largest craft breweries in the country.

Koch is also some kind of beer drinking Obi Wan Kenobi who has mastered the art of drinking without getting tuned up.  How does he do this?  Check out this article from Esquire to learn his secret.

Drunk Foods From Around the World

There’s something about drinking large amounts of adult beverages that works up an appetite.  All those 12oz curls inevitably lead to a late night dash to the closest pizza parlor.  Turns out this is a universal truth, and while drunks the world over are all getting the late night munchies, they’re stumbling towards different food joints.

What’s Really in your Beer?

The year is 1487 and you find yourself in the German Empire.  You happen across a brewer and ask him what is in his beer.  His answer: “malt, water, and hops.”  Of course we now know that yeast is a critical fourth ingredient but in 1487, before the microscope, fermentation was the stuff of magical pixies and fairy dust.  Back then the law known as the Reinheitsgebot dictated that beer only include malt, water, and hops.

Today, we include all kinds of stuff in beer.  Most of the time these adjuncts are used to create interesting flavor profiles that may or may not fit a defined style.  That’s all good as far as I’m concerned, but there are some other additives that may surprise you.  Check out this list of beers that use everything from artificial coloring to genetically modified ingredients.

Brewery Pays Homage to ‘The Walking Dead’

Like many people, the good folks at Dock Street Brewing in Philadelphia love them some Walking Dead.  In fact, they love the zombie apocalypse show so much that they decided to brew a special beer for the season finale.  Naturally, any good zombie tribute beer would include smoked goat brains, so they added it to the recipe.  Enjoy!

Mmmmm mmmmm brains!!!
